Matthew Pickering
Having grown up in the Waikato, Matthew then attended Lincoln College where he completed an agricultural degree. This launched him into a 22 year career in New Zealand’s rural industry. Beginning as a rural manager with the Rural Bank in Gisborne and Taranaki, he later became the National Bank branch manager in Morrinsville, followed by 9 years as the Northern Regional Manager for rural banking. In this role Matthew was recognised as being in the top 1% of ANZ National's talent. His leadership was influential in
- Leading and developing 110 staff and
- Growing the personal and business aspects of over 6000 rural clients
The outcome was sustainable growth of the business to a dominant 40% market share.
Alongside the previous corporate role Matthew immersed himself in community work and surf lifesaving. Saving lives, working with volunteers and diverse memberships, leading operational and governance roles and operating within constrained financial resources all compliment Matthew's business skills.
